BROWN UNIVERSITY & RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL of DESIGN'S

A CAPPELLA
ROOTED IN THE
JEWISH TRADITION
Brought together by a love of music and a passion for Jewish culture, the Alef Beats of Brown/RISD have been singing up and down the East Coast since our inception in 2005.
The Beats sing in all styles and formats; our repertoire includes Israeli and American pop/rock, old country Yiddish melodies, showtunes, and arrangements of modern Hebrew liturgical songs. Generally, we like to feature Jewish artists in our English repertoire, but we've been known to make exceptions!
The Beats hail from all over. Our all-gender membership roster includes those from as far afield as Southeast Asia, and as close to home as the Providence suburbs. Concentrations within the group vary as well, ranging from Computer Science to Classics. Through it all, though, the Beats remain united with a common friendship and a healthy appreciation for Jewish values and tradition.

The Alef Beats are incredibly excited to announce the release of our newest album: L'CHAI ON LIFE! We had an amazing time recording this album which includes pop, classic, Jewish, and rock repertoire. We are so excited to share it with you!
